Him Jyoti

The Him Jyoti School (http://www.himjyotischool.org/) was established in 2005, with the aim of empowering a girl child through education.

It is a bold and ambitious initiative of the newly formed Himalayan School Society and is a residential school for bright girls from socio-economically deprived families of Uttarakhand. The aim is to remove all impediments from the students path and provide quality education to girls from socio-economically deprived families in a boarding school environment totally free of cost. It helps girls from backward rural area to lead a purposeful life and become useful citizens of the country.

Established on a 10 acres plot of land allotted by the Government of Uttarakhand, the school is equipped with the finest teaching aids and equipment, play grounds and a hostel to accommodate 240 residential students. The school buildings have 90,000 square feet of covered area. Following the CBSE curriculum, the school has classes from V to XII, with thirty students in each class.

The school is the work of the Him Jyoti Foundation (http://www.himjyotifoundation.com/), established in 2003 by H. E. Shri Sudarshan Agarwal, former Governer of Uttarakhand, Thanks to his efforts, today 100 Him Jyoti Scholars are pursuing professional higher education in a variety of fields like medicine, engineering, science and humanities in institutes of their choice.

Each of them is receiving a scholarship of Rs. 25000/- each year for the full duration of the course. The vision of Him Jyoti falls in line with what 'Beyond Intent' objective is: empowering the socio-economically deprived with the aid of secondary and higher education.
